Erin M. Lum is a Partner at Empire Search Partners. Erin concentrates on consulting attorneys of all levels across a range of practice areas, including banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate governance, litigation, intellectual property and bankruptcy and restructuring.
Before joining Empire Search Partners, Erin was a Managing Director in the High Yield Department at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. Erin also practiced as a bankruptcy and business restructuring attorney at Ropes & Gray LLP and at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, each in New York.
At Bear Stearns, Erin worked on the distressed trading desk where she negotiated and resolved trade related issues with counterparties and coordinated numerous purchases and sales of domestic and international distressed assets. While practicing law, Erin represented and advised corporate debtors, chapter 11 trustees and secured and unsecured creditors, including creditors’ committees, lenders, landlords, holders of public debt securities and purchasers of distressed assets within the bankruptcy context.
Prior to attending law school, Erin worked as a news reporter at KUAM Island News, Guam’s NBC affiliate news station and Pacific Daily News, a Gannett Corporation newspaper. Erin also worked as an English Instructor and Lecturer at Zhanjiang Normal University in Zhanjiang, People’s Republic of China. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Erin was a member of the Guam Olympic Team, and competed in the sport of Judo.
Erin received her J.D., with distinction, from the University of Hawaii Law School, where she was on the University of Hawaii Law Review. She earned her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame.
