In particular, Latham & Watkins is in the enviable position of consistently being an active recruiter of first-rate legal talent, no matter the economic conditions. However, Scott explained that this steadfast recruitment of M&A, funds, and capital markets lawyers isn’t actually unique to Latham. Scott says most Big Law firms are still jumping at the chance to hire premier transactional legal talent despite any drop in deal volume or legal services demand, and he doesn’t expect lateral recruiting to slow significantly in the U.S. this year.
